Reconomy supports Sustainable Timber event

Reconomy’s Divisional Director, Matt Nichols, and Helistrat’s Head of Sustainability, Nathan Gray, recently spoke at the Sustainable Timber briefing organised by the Supply Chain Sustainability School (SCSS).

SCSS brings together people from across the Construction, FM, Homes and Infrastructure sectors and provides its members with networking events and training on sustainability, off-site construction, BIM, lean principles and management.

The Sustainable Timber event provided attendees with the opportunity to collaborate and understand the potential, challenges and quality standards involved in delivering a high-quality, sustainable product to site. More broadly, it also discussed the role of timber in developing a more circular economy and designing out waste.

Delegates had the opportunity to hear from both designers and contractors about the benefits that sustainable timber has to offer for the construction industry and what is being done to increase its use. This included a presentation from Matt and Nathan entitled ‘Closing the Loop – The Art of the Possible’.  At the end of each session there was also an opportunity for the audience to participate in an open discussion.

Feedback from the event was extremely positive, with 100% of attendees rating the quality of the content as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’ and over 90% of the delegates rating the speakers and their engaging content and depth of knowledge as the best thing about the event.

Reconomy looks forward to continuing to support the Supply Chain Sustainability School and helping its members to develop increasingly resource efficient and circular practices. Matt Nichols (Chair) and Nathan Gray also are involved in the SCSS working group for mapping and materials; procurement and supply chain engagement; and measurement and reporting.
