Reconomy delivering Christmas smiles to vulnerable children

With Christmas fast approaching, Reconomy staff members have thrown their support behind a West Midlands-based charity that is delivering Christmas presents to vulnerable children across the region.Established in 2001 and awarded charitable-status in 2015, 4 Steps To A Smile aims to change tears of sadness into tears of joy for children and women of the Midlands. The charity works closely with children’s care homes, hospices, women’s refuges and hospitals to identify vulnerable children that risk having nothing to open on Christmas morning. The charity asks these children what they would most like for Christmas, and the item requested is written on a gift tag’. Each tag is then given to a donator or volunteer who purchases the gift and place it in a gift bag, ready for the charity to deliver to the child ““ creating a smile.Reconomy initially committed to purchasing multiple presents as a corporate donation, however 4 Steps To A Smile quickly captured the imagination of Reconomy’s workforce. Over 70 members of the Reconomy team committed to buying presents themselves, at their own expense. This boosted the number of gift tags fulfilled by the company to nearly 200!Reconomy also sent a team of volunteers to 4 Steps To A Smile’s offices in Walsall to help sort through the many thousands of presents that the charity will be distributing this year.Reconomy Accounts Reconciler, Samantha Jones, who has co-ordinated all the donations from Reconomy, said: “I’m so proud of the amazing team here at Reconomy. None of this would have been possible without the kindness and generosity of everyone that has donated such wonderful gifts.”4 Steps To A Smile Founder, Linda Sandhar-Haynes, said: “I am hugely grateful for this amazing contribution from the Reconomy team, which will help us create more smiles than ever this Christmas. I hope this is the start of a long and wonderful journey together.” Paul Cox, Chief Executive of Reconomy, said: “4 Steps To A Smile really captures the true meaning of Christmas and everyone at Reconomy has taken this charity to their hearts. I’m hugely proud of everyone that has contributed.”
