Reconomy scoops ‘big six’ as MRW National Recycling Awards finalists are announced
The finalists for the 2021 MRW National Recycling Awards have been announced, with the Reconomy Group of Companies making the list on no fewer than six occasions across four separate award categories.
The National Recycling Awards are the most prestigious awards in the recycling and resource management sector, with winning projects and teams rightly recognised for their achievements within the industry and further along the supply chain. The awards seek to recognise and reward excellence and inspire others, for the advancement of the sector.
The Reconomy Group has been awarded two finalists places within the Innovations Award; Systems and Technology category. EcoVend is Reconomy’s next generation Reverse Vending Machine (RVM), which uses the latest technology to deliver innovative recycling opportunities for businesses and consumers. Reconomy Group Company, Valpak, is also shortlisted for its Product Data Hub.
Two Reconomy Group employees have also been recognised in the Rising Star category, with Reconomy Group Director of HR, Lyndsey Denning, and Valpak Director of Procurement, Ben Richardson being named among the finalists. Both Lyndsey and Ben also currently hold 35 under 35 status, which recognises the waste and recycling industry’s best young talent.
In other categories, Reconomy has also been shortlisted for the Smarter Systems Initiative award for its Waste Sector Digitisation project, which has seen the development of an end-to-end digital waste management journey. Lastly, Reconomy is also shortlisted for the Social Value Initiative of the Year award for its role in the creation of Captain Tom’s Courtyard, a partnership with Princess Royal Hospital in Telford involving the creation of a new outdoor space for hospital staff and patients dedicated to Captain Sir Tom Moore.
The National Recycling Awards take place on Wednesday 8th December in Central London, when all the winners will be announced.
