Warley RFC’s first XV finished runners up this season, but faced an agonising two-week wait for confirmation of their advancement to the next league, which was finally confirmed yesterday.
Next season Warley will now face new and tough competition in a league that stretches from Cannock to Cleobury Mortimer.
Warley RFC Chairman Dick Timmons said “The team made a valiant effort last season and the entire club is delighted that their hard work has been rewarded with promotion.”
The club, based on Tat Bank Road in Oldbury, is home to five rugby teams and a host of homegrown talent in the first team, but as they develop Warley RFC are still looking for new players.
Warley RFC Head Coach John Mahon said: “Securing promotion is fantastic for the club and it is a great time to join us for anyone that would like to play rugby.”
Warley RFC pride themselves on the welcoming environment they offer players and their families. With an RFU club mark seal of approval, the club continues to develop in both youth and women’s rugby.
Training sessions take place throughout the week for the men’s, youth and women’s sections at the facilities on Tat Bank Road in Oldbury. Anyone interested in playing rugby should email hello@warleyrfc.co.uk or call 07973 172795.
