Static waste compactors

Are you looking for an efficient solution to manage your commercial waste? Reconomy offers static waste compactor hire that not only optimizes your waste handling processes but also significantly reduces costs. Our compactors are designed to cater to a variety of waste types, making them an ideal choice for businesses aiming to enhance their sustainability practices.

Portable Compactors

Mobile units designed for sites with space limitations. They are self-contained, which makes them easy to move and swap out when full, suitable for small businesses or sites with restricted access.

Screw Compactors

Use a rotating screw mechanism to compress waste continuously. They’re especially efficient for compacting dry waste and cardboard, producing high compaction rates and minimising waste volume. Ideally suited to high volumes of wood pallets, crates and card, with a special in feed system to avoid bridging of bulky items.

The continuous feed and coarse shredding feature ensure maximum container filling, and the static version provides a minimal overall footprint. The Screw Compactor has a modern control system, which advises of container filling in 5% increments. It is available in static and portable configurations and the adaptor plate ensures you can use standard static containers.

Roll packers

Powerful crushing and compaction of waste can significantly reduce the number of collections by over 80%. Reduction in number of trips to the recycling site means lower handling and haulage costs plus less CO2 emissions because fewer haulage journeys are made. Waste items that would be too large and bulky for a conventional compactor can be processed with a roll packer.

No preparation of waste for processing, such as cutting or folding is necessary. The open container can be safely topped up with new waste during the compacting process until it is full. Swapping a full container for an empty one is a quick and simple process. Materials than can be put into a roll packer are: wood, general waste, pallets, green waste, metals and certain specialised materials.

Wheelie bin compactors (Bin Press)

Suitable for indoor or outdoor use, the side-mounted roller reduces the operating height and enhances versatility. Improving waste compaction helps cut handling and haulage costs, keeping your site neat and tidy.

Our bin press is specifically designed to compact waste in 660 or 1100 litre bins. It occupies minimal floor space and integrates with your existing bins.

Hook lift compactors

Our hook lift compactors are portable units designed for easy transport via a hook-lift system. This system allows a truck to lift and load the compactor for emptying or transport to waste facilities. They’re perfect for high-waste sites, offering efficient handling without requiring a permanent installation.

These compactors are available in a range of sizes, usually between 16 and 24 cubic meters, and often feature extras such as bin lifters for automated loading.

Skip lift compactors

A skip lift compactor is a portable waste compactor that uses a skip-lift mechanism for easy loading and unloading. It attaches to a skip lift vehicle, which lifts and removes the unit for emptying or relocating. These compactors, usually between 6 to 10 cubic meters, are suitable for managing general waste in moderate to high waste-producing areas like industrial sites, retail spaces, and construction zones.

Skip lift compactors are practical in areas with limited space or where installing a permanent waste compactor is impractical. They effectively compress waste, decreasing the need for frequent waste transport and disposal.

Waste compactors are pieces of waste recycling equipment that compress waste materials into dense blocks or bales, helping businesses with easier storage, transport, and management. Here’s how they function:

1. Load the waste into the compactor

Waste materials are placed into the compactor’s chamber, either manually in vertical compactors or automatically with conveyor belts in horizontal compactors.

2. Compaction Process

After the waste is loaded, the compactor begins compressing. Usually powered by hydraulics, though sometimes mechanical, a metal ram applies strong pressure to the waste, pushing it against a surface or into a container. This process crushes and compacts the waste, eliminating excess space and air.

3. Compacting the Waste

The compaction process continues until the waste achieves the target density. The compactor is designed to ensure the waste is distributed evenly and compacted effectively. This process can decrease the volume of the waste by up to 90%, making it significantly more manageable.

4. Ejecting the Compacted Waste

Once the compaction process is finished, the compacted waste is expelled from the machine. In stationary and horizontal compactors, it is usually pushed into a removable container or bin. In portable and vertical compactors, the waste is often baled and secured for easier handling.

Our waste compactors can manage different recyclable waste types, such as dry mixed recycling, cardboard waste, paper waste, plastic waste, and even food waste scraps. From a Hook Lift Swept-Ram Food Compactor (16-24 cubic metres) to portable waste compactors, Reconomy’s wide range of specialist compactors can help you handle all of your recyclable waste.

Our expert team offers dependable waste management solutions for businesses of all sizes and sectors. We provide customised plans with our range of handling and recycling equipment, helping you cut down on environmental impact and waste disposal costs.

Selecting the appropriate size waste compactor hinges on several factors, primarily the volume and nature of the waste produced, the space available, and budget constraints. Compact and space-efficient models are perfect for smaller businesses or facilities with restricted areas, whereas larger compactors are better suited for handling high-volume waste.

Benefits of using waste compactors

By reducing volumes of your waste, compactors will reduce the frequency of waste collections needed on your site, leading to lower collection and disposal costs.
